ChatGPT Adds Task Scheduling Feature

OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT, allowing users to schedule reminders and recurring tasks. This beta feature, called "Tasks," is available to ChatGPT Plus, Team, and Pro users. It marks a significant step towards more autonomous AI capabilities.

Things to Know:

  • Tasks Overview: The new "Tasks" feature enables users to set reminders and recurring requests. For example, you can ask ChatGPT to remind you when your passport expires or provide a weekend plan every Friday.

  • Setting Up Tasks: Users can access the feature by selecting "GPT-4o with scheduled tasks" from the model picker. They can then send ChatGPT a message detailing the desired task and its timing.

  • Managing Tasks: Tasks can be managed through the chat interface or a dedicated tasks manager tab on the web app. ChatGPT may also suggest tasks based on user interactions.

While the feature allows for scheduled information requests, it does not support continuous background searches or purchases. OpenAI plans to expand the feature based on user feedback during the beta period.
